Penstemon Dark Towers -
An improvement on the award winning Penstemon Husker Red from the original breeder, this selection of our native beardtongue extends all of the positive qualities of it's predecessor and adds a little bit more. The glowing red and purple foliage of both this and the original are one of the first flushes of color in the perennial border in early spring. Dark Towers maintains this color through the summer. This selection also boasts large clusters of pink flowers in summer which contrast well with the dark foliage and beat Husker Red's nearly invisible pale white flowers hands down. Being from a Michigan native species this plant is very well suited to our gardens.
