SPOTLIGHT on SWEET PEET
For years we've promoted the benefits of using Aged Pine Bark as soil amendment & mulch for perennials, roses, trees and shrubs. It's a great way to add benefical organic content & amend heavy soils like clay. However, it's just a bit too acidic for plants like vegetables and annuals. Here's the answer: Sweet Peet!
Sweet Peet is 100% organic, and pH ideal for growing tasty vegetables & colorful annuals! Made from composted virgin wood shavings used in horse bedding, with the benfeits of composted horse manure, it is further enhanced with an infusion of natural plant tannins. These tannins are microbe rich - enhancing the benefits of organic gardening, help moderate pH (which optimizes nutrient uptake), and helps moderate moisture, releasing it as plant need it. As a mulch, it helps retain moisture, reduce weed growth, feeds the soil as it decomposes, and optimizes results. We believe combining this with Master Nursery's Bumper Crop in the soil make an unbeatable growing environment for happy, healthy, super-productive crops!

SPOTLIGHT on Wall Play Spores - NEW for 2012!
Indeed, the first question asked is: "What are they?" These enigmatic little pods are a very stylish way to mount epiphytes (air plants) to any surface you can put a screw into - like a wall, a frame, a piece of driftwood . . . When they first arrived, I mounted half a dozen of them in under five minutes - So easy! With them, the creative potential for displaying & growing air plants is nearly unlimited, and can turn any surface into an instant living artform! Simply drill a pilot hole, screw the spore in place, position your air plant, and secure it with a stick, wire, or in this case, we used a chop stick - Perfect! These are some of the easiest plants to grow - and great for kids! You can now grow air plants anywhere that has bright but indirect light. Simply mist them a couple times a week, or remove them, run them under the tap & replace them. With the broad range of sizes, colors, and textures of epiphytes available, there is no limit to the fun & creative possibilities!
SPOTLIGHT on LIVING WALLS
They're fresh, they're green, and they're totally vertical! And they're showing up everywhere! Sometimes referred to as "Green Walls", they take gardening in a whole new direction, and elevate it to a living artform. Here's a way to paint a wall (or any vertical surface) with plants - indoors or out! Living walls have been around for a few decades, typically in posh office buildings or botanical gardens. But now, we have everything you need to do it in, on, or around your own home! Even more astounding is just how easy they are to create! These modular units are easy to plant, come in a variety of sizes, and can be expanded to fit or fill virtually any vertical surface. The range of plants suitable for vertical wall planters is so vast, they can be designed for any exposure, and color & texture can be as varied & dramatic as you wish. For even more versatility, they can be hand watered, or easily fitted with manual or automated irrigation systems. Oh - and here's a good thing to know - the main line we carry is Made in Michigan! We have several of these "hanging around" our Troy store, so stop by & check them out. We also offer free standing modular vertical garden units to create living walls or dividers where walls don't exist! Of course, as always, we'll be glad to guide you through the process & help you with suitable plant selection.
We offer classes & workshops on vertical gardening, so check our Events Schedule often!

These dimensional living art forms are super easy to make, and even easier to care for! With as many varieties of succulents as Telly's carries, there's almost no limit to the colors and textures available. What takes minutes to create, can last for years, and we have all the supplies you need on hand, year-round! Its no wonder these botanical beauties are getting so popular! There are plants to accomodate growing these inside or out, all year long, and they make the perfect living botanical accent for the door, window, or set on a table - even as a centerpiece for a table setting. Of course, they can be round, like a traditional wreath, but they can also be square, rectangular, or totally three dimensional like a kissing ball for the overhang, a mushroom for the side-table, a basket with a plantable handle, or even a cornucopia with your favorite plant spilling out! Astound your friends with your own creations, or pick up one of our pre-planted wonders - they make perfectly thoughtful gifts.
Just give them a sunny spot, and watering is as simple as a gentle dunk in a sink or tub of water once a month. Its that easy. One of those plants getting to big? - Just pinch it back! An errant basketball broke off a few & left a whole? - Just stick them right back in! Need a change? - Check out our constantly changing selection of succulents!
